Social Outings & Activities with a Companion

Lunch out, a National Trust garden, the theatre or the weekly bridge club. Our companions drive, accompany and make it easy to keep doing what you love.

Getting out and about again

Giving up driving, a loss of confidence after a fall, or simply having nobody to go with can mean staying at home far more than you would like. Our companions make outings straightforward and enjoyable: they plan the trip, check accessibility, drive or arrange a taxi, and stay alongside you throughout.

Ideas our clients enjoy

  • Lunch at a favourite restaurant
  • Dunham Massey and Tatton Park
  • Quarry Bank and Lyme Park
  • Garden centres and farm shops
  • Theatre, cinema and concerts
  • Church and faith groups
  • Golf club and bridge club
  • Galleries and museums
  • Visiting friends and family
  • Hairdresser and shopping

Many National Trust properties in our area, including Dunham Massey, Quarry Bank and Lyme, offer free entry for a companion when you hold a National Trust Access for All admit card, and Tatton Park has mobility scooters and accessible routes.

Staying connected to your community

Charities such as the Campaign to End Loneliness and Independent Age highlight how much regular social contact matters in later life. We can help you find and attend local groups, from University of the Third Age interest groups to lunch clubs and church fellowships, and go along until you feel settled.

About our service: Livingsupported provides non-regulated companionship, home help and lifestyle support. We do not provide personal care (such as help with washing, dressing, toileting or giving medication), nursing or medical care, and we are not registered with the Care Quality Commission. If personal or clinical care is needed, we will help you find a registered provider and can work alongside them.

Where we provide this service

We visit clients across South Manchester and Trafford, Cheshire and Staffordshire, including Hale, Bowdon, Altrincham, Wilmslow, Alderley Edge, Prestbury, Knutsford and Eccleshall.

Frequently asked questions

Do your companions drive?

Most of our companions drive and have business insurance. They can use their own car or yours, provided it is appropriately insured.

Can you accompany someone who uses a wheelchair?

Yes, our companions can push a manual wheelchair and plan accessible routes. We will talk through mobility needs at the home visit to make sure outings are safe and comfortable.

Who pays for meals and tickets?

The client pays for their own costs and those of their companion during an outing, such as a coffee or entry ticket, unless agreed otherwise.
